Born to Dance – that is twinkle- toed Aarti Mohan – petite expressive and with an artistic assurance beyond her years.
Aarthi has been learning Bhartanatyam from Revathi Ramachandran for over 25 years. She played the role of little Krishna in the dance feature – “Krishnam Vande Jagathgurum” of I.D.A. Aarti’s innate talent got her an engaging part in the TV serial- “Noopur”.
Aarti has performed in all major sabhas in Chennai like – Bharat Kalachar, Narada Gana Sabha, Spirit of Youth- The Music Academy and Nritya Ranga. She is a recipient of scholarship from the Centre of Cultural Resources and Training. She has participated in all the production of the Institution in lead roles and has won wide appreciation. She has accompanied her teacher and performed at UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Singapore. She is the recipient of the “Yuva Kala Bharathi” award from Bharat Kalachar.
Aarti is a Co-Founder and heads the Knowledge Practice at Sattva, a company that looks into social impact and sustainability models for NGOs and CSRs. She currently resides in Bengaluru and travels to Chennai to assist her Guru in the institution’s productions. She is a graduate from BITS Pilani and is an Alumnus of the IIM-Bangalore Management Program for Women Entrepreneurs (MPWE).
A performing artist, choreographer and an ardent student of Bharatanatyam, Anusha began her initial training in classical dance at the tender age of 3 under Guru Radha and Raji – disciples of Vazhuvoor Ramaiya Pillai. Anusha then started rigorous training under Guru Smt Revathi Ramachandran in the year 1989. After taking to the art at a very young age, Anusha honed her art form by extensive study of the theory and practice of Bharatanatyam for over 30 years. Anusha has performed widely with her Guru all over India under various prestigious banners like the Chidambaram Natyanjali festival, Mysore dussera festival and International Women’s Association. She has a lower grade diploma in Bharatanatyam from the Government of India and also currently trains in the fundamentals of Carnatic Music – History, Technique and Appreciation under Sri Balaji Santhanam in Seattle, Washington.
A resident of the United States since 2002, Anusha has worked hard to constantly stay connected to the dance form and feed her passion for the art by learning and performing extensively through the years. She has performed for several eminent organizations in US like Walt Disney, AKKA world association and Hindu University of America among many others. She has choreographed and performed at several prestigious shows in major cities in USA and also performs regularly as a freelance artist in productions by senior visiting artist troupes from India.
In 2004, driven by an urge to give back to the art and stay connected with her passion, Anusha established “Sanskriti – Center for Indian Performing Arts” at Orlando FL with subsequent chapters in Kentucky and now in Seattle, Washington. Sanskriti aims at imparting quality training in Bharatanatyam with a heavy focus on building a strong foundation. Anusha has also conducted workshops and lecture demonstrations on various aspects of Bharatanatyam and has been a visiting faculty at several art institutions in USA like KY Dance Alliance, Berea college, Hindu Univ of America, Chinmaya mission USA among others.
Anusha is equally passionate about her corporate career in the tech industry and currently works as a Senior Program Manager at Amazon in Seattle Washington. A perfectionist by nature, Anusha strives to maintain the balance between her corporate and artistic worlds and hopes to pursue her art to the best of her abilities for years to come!
An ardent student and talented performer of the fine arts, Sridharini commenced her learning in Bharata Natyam under the able guidance and tutelage of Smt. Revathi Ramachandran at the age of 7 in 1994 and performed her Salangai Pooja in September, 1997. She performed her Arangetram on 21st July, 2000 at Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan, in Chennai which was presided over by Mr.R.Seshasayee, (Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Limited) and the Chief Guest was Dr.Padma Subramanyam, Director, Nrithyodaya, Chennai.
Apart from learning the theory of Bharatha Natyam, Sridharini has also learnt “Nattuvangam” from her Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran. She has accompanied Smt. Revathi Ramachandran as an artist on Nattuvangam for over ten years. The multi- faceted Sridharini had the opportunity to travel with her Guru to Delhi for ICCR and did both the Nattuvangam and vocals for her.
She has accompanied her Guru for the SPIC – MACAY Dance performance at various places – Udipi, Dharmasthala, etc., in Karnataka. She has been learning carnatic music under the guidance of Smt. V. Nandini. Sridharini has toured USA, France, Germany, UK and Singapore with her Guru. She has participated in IDA ( International Dance Alliance) as part of “Krishnam Vandhe Jagat Gurum” in 2010 and in a production choreographed by Smt. Archana Narayanamurthy in 2011 to name a few. Sridharini has also handled classes at Kala Sadhanalaya and has been acclaimed a kind teacher.
She was awarded the “Smt.T.Balasaraswathy Endowment Award” for “ABHINAYANAM” from “SRI KRISHNA GANA SABHA” in December, 2002 (for her performance on 8th January, 2002). She has passed the Lower grade examination in Music and Dance and the higher grade Dance exam conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Sridharini, having a very strong hold in Abhinaya, Laya, Nattuvangam, music, choreography and theory of Bharata Natyam is currently part of “Sankalpa” ensemble in Portland, Oregon where she resides. She is a certified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants India.
Manasvini Korukkai Ramachandran.
Having trained in Bharatanatyam from her mother/ Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran for over 17 years, Manasvini has travelled across the globe as part of dance groups. Manasvini has been nurtured in an artistic milieu that has honed and inspired her creative skills. Having many titles to her credit including the “Balasraswathy Award” from the Krishna Gana Sabha, “Yuva Kala Vipanchee” from the Vipanchee trust, “ Yuva Kala Bharathi” from Bharath Kalachaar, and “Natana Bhava Padmam” from Brahma Gana Sabha, she pursues the art with zeal and exuberance. She has travelled to the United States, France, Germany, Singapore and Armenia as parts of dance troupes. She has been graded “B” by the Door Dharshan Kendra. Manasvini is currently undergoing advanced training under Sri. Sheejith Krishna and hes paticipated in his productions “Sadrshyam” and “Ram Katha”. Manasvini is also a music student of Smt. K. Gayatri Prasanna and Smt. Suguna Purushothaman. She has completed a B. Tech in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai. Having a wide array of interests spanning domains of science, archeology, philosophy and culture, Manasvini teaches Bharathanatyam in villages down south and in Chennai and is also developing models for village development.
Manasvini was auditioned and selected by the Tamilnadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram to perform solos in 4 venues in 2013 as part of the talent search scheme. She has had the privilege of training under Smt. Chitra Visweswaran and has participated in the productions of CAPA. She has had the privilege of participating in the production ‘ Pallaki Seva Prabhandhamulu’ for the Rasoham unity concert series in November 2013, which featured children of eminent dance gurus.This was choreographed , produced and directed by the legendary dance couple- Smt. Vasanthalakshmi and Sri. M.V.Narasimhachari. Manasvini was chosen by Natya Rangam, the dance wing of Narada Gana Sabha to present Vedantic works of Bharathiyar. She was teamed up with three young dancers (Apoorva Jayaraman, Sai Santhosh Radhakrishnan and Medha Hari), the music for which was set by Lalgudi Sri. G. J. R. Krishnan and Lalgudi Smt. Vijayalakshmi.
Manasvini also accompanies her mother on the Nattuvangam.
Saindhavi has been learning from Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran from the age of 10 and has taken part in many productions of Kala Sadhanalaya. She learns Carnatic Music from Smt. K. Gayatri (disciple of the late Smt. Suguna Purushothaman) and she also pursued Veena for several years under Vidushi Smt. Kalpagam Swaminathan. She has also taken part in the annual Margazhi program, “Dhanur Vaibhav” at her previous school, Chettinad Hari Shree Vidyalayam, for three years (‘Skandapuranam’ – 2012, ‘Dasavataram’ – 2013, ‘Trinetram ’ – 2014).
Having parents who are culturally inclined, Saindhavi has been training in Indian fine art with sincerity and dedication. Her Arangetram was held in 2013 October in the presence of Cleveland Sri. V. V. Sundaram. She has performed several group and solo presentations in dance. She has also given several music concerts with her sister, assisted her teacher Smt. K. Gayatri in music presentations and demonstrations and has sung in Smt. Suguna Purushothaman’s group. She has bagged major roles in Kala Sadhanalaya’s productions- “Ambalathil Aadum Jothi”, “Aayar Kula Thilakam”, “Om Saravana Bhava, “Lakshmi Vaibhavam” and “Jagat Pāvanī Gangā”. She has given solo concerts in prestigious Sabhas of Chennai. She has travelled with her Guru to Singapore for concerts and presentations.
Saindhavi is a keen twelfth grade student of humanities in Sishya and aspires to study literature. A skilled writer, Saindhavi is a playwright at Crea- Shakthi.
A natural and dedicated dancer, Divya has been learning Bharata Natyam from the age of three under Guru Smt. Revathi Ramachandran. She performed he Salangai pooja on 2nd, July 2010 and went up on stage for her Arangetram on 2nd November 2012. Mohiniattam expert Smt. Gopika Varma presided over the function. Having a mother who is ardently inclined towards dance and craftwork, Divya progressed to be one of her Gurus prime disciples in no time.
Divya has travelled widely in India with her guru. She has performed in various Natyanjalis in Chidambaram, Tanjore, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam during Sivarathri and has travelled to Srivilliputhur, Pothai, Kumbakonam, Goa and Mumbai for prestigious programmes. Divya has travelled to Singapore with her Guru and her portrayal of “Nandi” in the production “ambalathil Aadum Jyothi” was widely appreciated. She has been giving solo performances in the December season in Chennai and has been consistently performing. Divya has been part of all of Kala Sadhanalaya’s productions.
Divya attended M. C. T. M. school and held the post of Cultural Secretary during her high school. She has won many prices and has actively taken part in schools cultural festivals. She is currently pursuing her B. E. in computer Science in S R M University, Katankulathur.
A graceful and bright Bharathanatyam dancer, Darshana hails from a family of classical music and dance lovers. She started taking formal trainning in Bharathanatyam at the age of 7 from Guru Smt.Revathi Ramachandran. Darshana had her Salangai Pooja on September 5th 1999 and the occasion was graced by the famous Manipuri dancers – Jhaveri Sisters. She had her Arangetram on 20th October, with Smt. & Sri. Dhananjayan presiding over the function.
Darshana’s dance has always been noted for her abhinaya. She has participated in many of her guru’s production both within and outside Chennai. She has also toured with her Guru to USA, France and Germany and has performed in more than 50 stages abroad.As a child, Darshana ‘s portrayal of “Kutty Krishna” in her guru’s production “Ayar Kula Tilakam” has won her wide appreciation. She has also performed along with her guru for The Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai, modelled as a dancer for SS Music and has also been part of a group recital for the former State Chief Minister. She also secured the first place in an episode of “Thaka Dhimi Tha” aired on Jaya TV.
Darshana is a CPA from USA and a graduate in MSc. Finance from the Singapore Management University. She is currently a finance professinal in one of the top investment banks in Europe in Poland.
After initial training under Surya Santhanam, Dhivya came under the tutelage of Ms. Revathi Ramachandran in the year 1994. Thereafter she performed along with her guru in all the productions of Kalasadhanalaya at prestigious festival in Chennai and India-Qutab Festival, Natyanjali Festival, Margazhi Mahotsav etc.
Dhivya has also given solo recitals in many prestigious sabhas including
R.R.Sabha, Indian Fine arts society etc. She has taken part in the 13 episode serial “Deiveega Thirumanangal ” telecast by the Chennai Doordarshan Kendra.
Dhivya has helped in demonstrating many facets of the Melattur School of Bharatnatyam at the Abhai and Fine Arts Foundation.
A senior student of Kalasadhanalaya Dhivya’s performance is noted for her Angasuddha, firm footwork and Arai mandi. She also assists her guru in conducting classes at Kalasadhanalaya.
The graceful and supple movements picked up during the initial training in Russian Ballet, made Sunita Raghav take to Bharatnatyam as a vocation . She continues as a senior disciple of Ms. Revathi Ramachandran.
Having helped her guru to conduct classes for the institution at Chennai, she has now started the Bangalore branch of Kala Sadhanalaya. Sunita has assisted her guru in directing a teleserial for DD Chennai – she was awarded a scholarship for learning Nattuvangam by ELAL, ISAI, Nataka Manaram.
She has performed solo in many stages- Music Academy , Narada Gana Sabha, Karthik Fine Arts, Indian fine Arts.
She has also performed in a lot of prestigious shows in India – Qutub festival, Natyanjali Festival etc. She has accompanied her guru as performed abroad in UK., USA, Europe and Canada.
